What your support
makes possible.
Every CineTwin licence sold helps fund the next stage of development. Supporting the app means helping us improve its foundations, reach more filmmakers and build towards the digital twin workflow we want to use ourselves.
These milestones are based on total licences sold. They describe our priorities and what your support makes possible. Development, testing and refinement will still take time.
Better rendering
Our first investment will be a MacBook Pro with an M3 chip or newer, allowing us to develop for more recent ray-tracing capabilities and improve rendering on higher-spec Macs.
So far, CineTwin has been developed on an M1 Max. That gives us a practical baseline: we want the app to remain useful on the hardware we started with while making better use of more powerful machines.
If there is clear interest in CineTwin, our first priority is continued development of the rendering engine. It is the foundation of the app. Creating beautiful lighting needs to feel fast and responsive. If getting a good image is a struggle, the app stops being enjoyable to use.
Bringing CineTwin to Windows
Another 100 supporters would let us purchase a PC with a capable graphics card and begin the work of porting CineTwin to Windows.
We like Macs, but we are not fanatics. We know many potential CineTwin users work on PCs, and we want them to be part of this too. This milestone funds the hardware and the start of that work.
A complete V1
Our goal at this stage is a proper version 1.0: an extensive asset library, the full feature set planned for V1 and a workflow that feels ready for everyday use.
Once we reach 500 licences, we also plan to approach lighting and equipment manufacturers about working together on manufacturer-supplied IES profiles, accurate specifications and validation against real fixtures.
A digital twin should earn that name. We want to keep closing the gap between the lighting you build in CineTwin and the equipment you use on set.
A different way of working
We want you to be able to speak to CineTwin the way you speak on set.
“Bring in another SkyPanel on an Avenger stand and put it next to the pool table.”
“Great. Point it at our lead and set it to 3200 K at 25%.”
CineTwin’s underlying data structure has already been designed with MCP and AI-driven interaction in mind. That same thinking shapes the interface: minimal clutter, with tools and controls directly accessible.
Connecting an AI model to the app is only part of the challenge. The harder part is making sure it understands the scene, the equipment and what you actually mean well enough to act reliably.
We think the models are almost there. Implementing this today would still involve too many workarounds, and the result might behave like that one gaffer who lied on their résumé.
We expect future generations of models to bring this within reach. Your support would give us the room to develop and test it properly.
And after that?
There are plenty more ideas. But first, let’s build a better renderer, bring CineTwin to more people and make the digital twin live up to its name.
Baby steps. With a clear direction.
